Weekly Torah Portion: Parashat Matot-Masei
The portion of Nasso is the longest single portion in the Torah (the combined portions of Matot-Masei, when they are read together, are longer). It continues listing the responsibilities of the various families of Levites which began in Bamidbar. From there, it elaborates on several laws, including those pertaining to a husband who suspects his wife of infidelity, and the Nazirite who wishes to commit himself more fiercely to holiness. Finally, the portion ends with the contributions of the
tribal leaders to the Tabernacle’s dedication..
Root Source Press publishes its first book in a foreign Language!
Our historic books published in 2019, “The LIST: Persecution of Jews by Christians Throughout History” and “40 Days of Repentance: A Companion Guide to The LIST” made a big impact on everyone who read them. One such person, Nel Ooijen, was so taken, that she decided to translate it into the
language of her country, the Netherlands!
Pinchas: Rabbi Gedalia Meyer's Weekly Torah Study
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has begun giving a short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute.
We are grateful to our friends at the Temple Institute who have allowed us to provide Rabbi Meyer’s teachings here too.
Biblical Promise of the Land
Part 2
There are thirty-six individual instances that God promises the land of Israel to the children of Israel in the Torah. David reviews promises mentioned in the book of Genesis. The second time God speaks with Abraham about the promise of the land is found in Genesis 13:14 & 18.The third time is
found in Genesis 15:1-21.

As I was learning the third aliyah in this week’s Torah portion of “Pinchas,” something struck me about the similarity between Pinchas and the woodchopper from the Torah portion of “Shlach” which we read a few weeks back. “ And the B’nai Yisrael were in the desert,”bamidbar,” and they found a person chopping wood on Shabbat. These people brought this very man to Moshe and Aharon and the entire congregation.
We are in the middle of “the Three Weeks,” a period or remembrance and mourning for the Jewish People. Our friends at Israel 365 have prepared a whole program introducing this, please see what they are offering at https://www.israel365.com/three-weeks-2021/
A critical deep dive on information that we all should know.
Mental health and suicide are much more prevalent than most people think, yet they get little attention because for too many people it is still taboo to talk about. Hence, many people are left alone without the proper tools or assistance to help themselves or their loved ones.
