Weekly Torah Portion: Bamidbar

The portion of Bamidbar is the first in the book of Numbers, and opens it with a census. It has been a year since the people left Egypt, and the Tabernacle is entering its operational stage. The camp needs to be arranged around it.

God orders a census of the people be taken, and commands that they encamp in a specific arrangement. The Levites are appointed to a special role within the Israelite camp, and are likewise counted separately. The portion ends with the first of the Levite families, Kehat, being given their responsibilities towards the Tabernacle.

On Sunday, April 25, Gidon was the featured guest on a Zoom presentation of the Boston-based Christians & Jews United for Israel (CJUI). CJUI was founded in 2006 to mobilize Christians and Jews in the fight against antisemitism and to unite them in support of Israel’s right to exist as a sovereign Jewish State, its right to a united Jerusalem as its capital, and the right of Jews to live in Judea and Samaria.
Gidon introduced his own life story, then fielded about an hour’s worth of questions. Some he’s never been asked before!

The Newer Testament - Pt 4

Dr. Brad Young is the translator of The Newer Testament.
The goal of the Newer Testament is to help readers “Hear it as they heard it.” To take us back to the First Century world and allow us to hear the words of the Greek New Testament as they would have been understood by the disciples of Jesus. The Newer Testament therefore authenticates the Hebraic heritage of the Bible.

Signs of Hope

There is always hope. Webster’s dictionary defines “hope” as “to cherish a desire with anticipation.” Is this the same as counting on a miracle? Perhaps it is a strengthening of “emunah?” I saw an extremely moving video of a father of two of the souls that were taken from us this past week at Meron. You hear him speaking of Hashem taking his sons and then he cries out, “but please don’t take away my “emunah,” my belief in you.”
