Hello {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }},
This week’s portion Leviticus 9:1-11:47 described the length of the special service Aaron and his four sons brought in the Tabernacle for the first time, following the seven day period of inauguration. It tells of the tragic demise of Aaron’s elder two sons, Nadab and Abihu, and what happens in the aftermath of their deaths. Finally, the portion closes with a lengthy explanation of the laws of permitted and forbidden animals for
consumption, known as the Kosher laws.
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has been giving a short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute. We are grateful to our friends at the Temple Institute who have allowed us to provide Rabbi Meyer’s teachings here too. This week teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer talked about the Passover Seder. Blessings of the Torah Part 1
This lesson is regarding the blessing of the Torah that Jews pray in the morning. This relatively long blessing highlights the importance of the Torah to Jews.
As we approach the Seder night 5781, we have two very specific areas of life to ponder. We can look back and remember the most difficult year that our people experienced and simultaneously we can look forward with hope to something that is beyond our intellectual capabilities.
Initial Election Results in Israel
Israelis went to the election polls for the fourth time in two years. While the initial results are promising for a right-wing, nationalist, religious government, it is not simple at all. We may find ourselves with a fifth election.
Do not miss finding out the results and how this can be.
