Hello {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }},
This week’s portion Leviticus 12:1–13:59 details at how parashah deals with ritual impurity. The portion opens with the ritual laws of a woman who gives birth, but the bulk of the content discusses the identification and quarantine of the metzorah, or leper. Unlike the medical affliction, Biblical tzaraat, or leprosy, can also affect clothing or buildings.
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has been giving a short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute. We are grateful to our friends at the Temple Institute who have allowed us to provide Rabbi Meyer’s teachings here too. This week teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer talked about the Miracles. Biblical Promise of the Land
Israel and the Nations – Biblical Promise of the Land class 1 – There thirty-six individual instances that God promises the land of Israel to the children of Israel in the Torah. David reviews four promises mentioned in the book of Genesis. The first time God speaks with Abraham is the beginning of the Jewish faith and promises of the land.
Yes we are getting very close to the 8th and final day. How can I prepare for this magnanimous event? It is a bit scary, is it not? All of my personal dreams and aspirations, creation of independence, desires to contribute to the greater good for the world, all of it sounds so appropriate and fitting. Will they still be alive and needed in the world to come? Who really knows?

Powerful Holocaust Memorial
On April 8th 2021, the Jewish people all over the world are commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day.
The story in this video is not about the atrocities of the Holocaust, but about the surprising strength and power of some Jews during the atrocities of the Holocaust.
This is one story of such a hero, a very surprising hero and an extremely important and inspiring story.
We get so many unsolicited comments and compliments! Here is one:
As I participate in our Christian celebration of Easter, I can't help but reflect on all the atrocities the Jews have experienced.
I've expressed the guilt/remorse I've felt as early as a young child because of it.
If we, as Christians, are truly 'grafted in', it is only because you are the root - God's chosen people.
Christians owe everything to the Jewish people and need to support the land of Israel, the state of Israel and the people of Israel.
You, specifically Gidon, demonstrate why God chose Israel - you are willing to spend time and effort bridging the gap between Jews and Christians.
I can't even find the words to express how deep my appreciation goes out towards you and the effort of those joining you to bridge that gap.
I pray every day that G-d lifts you up and provides all you need to carry out that mission of love!
Thank you,
Kathy Herbst
