Hello {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }},
What is Sukkot? Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday that comes five days after Yom Kippur. Sukkot celebrates the gathering of the harvest and commemorates the miraculous protection God provided for the children of Israel when they left Egypt. We celebrate Sukkot by dwelling in a foliage-covered booth (known as a sukkah) and by taking the “Four Kinds” (arba minim), four special species of vegetation.
In 2016, two years after we started Root Source, our founder Gidon Ariel put together a video that explains the Sukkot holiday, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles. We are revisiting that video, four years later, in honor of Sukkot in 2020. Watch it below!
We are delighted to share this lesson from our Chapters of the Fathers channel with our great teacher Rabbi Elan Adler "Aaron Loved and Pursued Peace 1." If you are not a registered member of Root Source, you can click the link below to sign up for free.
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has begun giving a short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute. We are grateful to our friends at the Temple Institute who have allowed us to provide Rabbi Meyer’s teachings here too.
Have I really Sinned? Who likes to admit that they did something wrong? Most of us have a very difficult time of this all year. Certainly it takes a lot of humility to be able to approach a friend, a spouse, a co- worker and ask for forgiveness for something you did.
We sign off with a beautiful photo of the Old City Street.
Shalom,

We are revisiting that video again, four years later, in honor of Sukkot in 2020. Enjoy Gidon’s very nice way of explaining things!(19:22)

Ha’azinu: Rabbi Gedalia Meyer’s Weekly Torah Study
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has begun giving a short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute.

Who likes to admit that they did something wrong? Most of us have a very difficult time of this all year. Certainly it takes a lot of humility to be able to approach a friend, a spouse, a co- worker and ask for forgiveness for something you did. How do I bring it up? What should I say that will not reopen a terrible wound? Please bless me with the right words.
We must take all of this into account in order to receive the forgiveness that we want to receive before Yom Kippur. Of course we must do this because, although Moshe Rabenu says about Hashem in the Torah, “…ki bayom hazeh y’chaper alechem mikol chatotechem…” because on this day he will forgive you for all of your sins, (Vayikra 16.30 ), it is clear that this idea only relates to the sins which we commit between ourselves and God. As for
the sins between people, this we need to take full responsibility for on every level.
