As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. Psalm 18:30

This portion Eikev Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25, carries a promise of Godly assistance in conquering the Land of Israel and blessings for following His commands.
After weeks of preparation and considering hundreds of nominations, the website of Bridgebuilders: Top Activists in Christian-Jewish Engagement was launched yesterday, Sunday August 2, in an impressive two hour long program broadcast live on the Internet.

What Did Moses See Before He Died? The situation is that Moses is standing on the top of mount Nevo east of the Jordan river across from Jericho. Read it below!
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has begun giving a short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute. We are grateful to our friends at the Temple Institute who have allowed us to provide Rabbi Meyer’s teachings here too.
Few stories in the Tanakh are as bazaar as the story in 1 Samuel 27 of the future King David, who came to live in Ziklag in the land of the Philistines. In Ziklag, he pretended to Philistine King Achish to be raiding the Israelites, but instead was raiding the enemies of Israel, such as the Amalekites.
What will happen to the United States this fall? While the 9th of Av ended last Thursday evening at sundown, this week a wonderful virtual tour continues at 9-av.com that has basically recreated in an on-line experience the physical tour of Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria we put on in 2019!
This week, we feature a question from our student Carol who is asking about Rabbi Meyer's perspective on Genesis 1:26 Let us make man in our Image and likeness. Read his answer below!
Bring on the comfort. Oy do we need some comforting and consolation. We have all been through various challenges over at least the past 5 months, each of us responding in the way we best know how.
We sign off with a lovely comment from our student and a beautiful photo of Church of the Ascension.
Shalom,

This portion Eikev Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25, carries a promise of Godly assistance in conquering the Land of Israel and blessings for following His commands. Moses warns the people that they will be punished for disregarding God’s word and reminds them of several incidents in which they had sinned, but mostly focuses on the good that God will bring them if they keep His laws. It also deals heavily with the bounty of the Promised
Land.
The Bridgebuilders Ceremony was a Rousing Success
After weeks of preparation and considering hundreds of nominations, the website of Bridgebuilders: Top Activists in Christian-Jewish Engagement was launched yesterday, Sunday August 2, in an impressive two hour long program broadcast live on the Internet.
Some 70 Christians and Jews were honored, with many sharing their testimonies about how they came to focus on this area and what they sense God is doing with Christians and Jews in our day.

Just Before the End: What Did Moses See Before He Died?
The summit of Pisgah is redundant, Pisgah means summit. Opposite of Jericho alright, but I would translate this as the highest summit across from Jericho which seems to sound more understandable. The situation is that Moses is standing on the top of mount Nevo east of the Jordan river across from Jericho.
The western sea is an interesting translation. In the original Hebrew it says haYam HaAcharon which could mean the last sea or more precisely the sea in the back. If you are facing east, which would give you orientation of the sun rising in the east, the compass of ancient times. East in the Bible is called Kedem, the front, so west could be considered the back or acharon and so the translation the western sea would be precise in referring to the Mediterranean Sea which in other places in the
Bible might also be referred to as the Yam a Hagadol the great sea.

The USA will go through “the straits” this fall!

With about 40 hours of content which you can’t get anywhere else, (and knowing that content fairly intimately,) I will go so far as to state that I think it is the best $99 you will ever spend to
bless Israel. Imagine you and a friend (or your whole family) going to Israel for $99!? Go to the Nations’ 9th of Av at 9-av.com.

Shalom,
I like to tell you about myself so you can know a little about me. I am affiliated with El Shaddai Ministries and when this offer came up to learn I decided to check it into this program. I have been a Christian for 40 years and about 8 years ago I was hungering for more that what I had learned and read in my Christian walk. The LORD in his faithfulness open the door to Mark Blitz church and even though I live in Oregon I have since been observing the Sabbath
on Saturday’s and listening to Marks teachings now for 7 years.
Now this has lead me to the Root Source website and when I looked at all the lessons, I though what a better place to start is with the beginning “God” . So I am very new in all of this and I have liked what I have heard and leaned so far. But I had a question that I like to write you about. Please know I have really have liked this class and have taken notes and listen to this Lesson 4 twice now. What amazes me is your perspective on Genesis 1:26 Let us make
man in our Image and likeness. My focus on the word US. I never thought of God talking about us in the future tense. What I like about this is to me it opens up a intimacy with God that He has a great plan and I am part of that plan in a deeper way than I already believe, and that in a very small way I can create my future and it will affect history. Now, I have believed that in a surface level but this brings that thinking much deeper. But here is the but, I also believe that the US represent
the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is another way of looking at this.
I just wanted to get your thoughts on this also.
Thank you

Oy do we need some comforting and consolation. We have all been through various challenges over at least the past 5 months, each of us responding in the way we best know how. One thing many of us have learned. No one can do it alone. We need each other and we need Hashem. We need to feel supported both by friends and by the supernal, “roeh tzoan,” shepherd, as He is described in this week’s “haftorah” reading (Yeshayahu
40.10-11).
I Thank You All at Root Source for sharing GOD with us
Our student Bonnie enjoyed Root Source and had this to say:
Dear Rabbi Gedalia Meyer, what a blessing you are. I am going through your lessons on the Jewish Image of GOD. Wow! I feel I am seeing GOD for the first time. I see HIM, or should I say HIS BEING more clearly. Thank you for reading and giving a literal translation of what is actually written in Torah. I am learning so much. Getting to know WHO GOD really is. This information is not readily found in churches in Canada. I Thank
You All at Root Source for sharing GOD with us. May your generosity be met with HIS Blessings.
I have also started other lessons with Root Source. All I thing about all day is getting back to my lessons.
Root Source Thank You Soooo Much.
Sincerely bonnie
