Dear ,
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Terumah Exodus 25:1-27:19, deals with the plans for the construction of the Tabernacle, God’s portable Temple in the desert. The Tabernacle will become the focus of most of the rest of the book of Exodus. It was constructed in the second year after the Exodus and remained in use even after the people entered the Holy Land. It was destroyed during the time of Eli the Priest, not long before King Saul came
to the throne.

On February 12th, the UN Human Rights Council released a blacklist detailing 112 businesses that are accused of “crimes” that have to do with operating in or supporting Jewish life in Judea and Samaria. Ironically, 94 out of the 112 businesses are Jewish-owned. Is this a UN blacklist, or is this really just Jew hatred?
Ready for a Revolution? This Shabbat, Parshat Shekalim, marks the Shabbat that we bless the forthcoming new month of Adar, 5780. That means that Purim, the favorite holiday all over Tekoa, is less than 18 days away. One of the concepts highlighted each Purim is mentioned at the end of “Megilat Esther. In the 12th month, which is the month of Adar, on the 13th day of the month, when the king's order and his edict drew near to be put into
execution, on the day that the Jews' enemies looked forward to ruling over them, “v’nahafoch hu,” the edict was overturned, the Jews will now rule over their enemies (Esther 9.1).
We sign off with a comment from our Root Source student and a beautiful photo of the Sea of Galilee.
Shalom,

The portion opens with God asking Moses to collect donations from the Children of Israel to build the Tabernacle. Particularly, He asks that those who are generous of heart give what they are moved to donate. From the various riches which the Israelites took with them out of Egypt, they built a house of worship for God.
As God tells Moses in the beginning of this portion, “Build Me a Sanctuary and I shall dwell in their midst.” The Israel Bible points out the significance of this verse: the Tabernacle is not a physical home for God, but a tool through which God dwells among the people themselves, enabling a relationship between them.

Do we need to wait for such a threat to look forward to our forthcoming spiritual revolution? Just last week we read in Parshat Yitro, Hashem promises us, “…and you will be specifically chosen for me from all of the nations…” (Shmot 19.5). And yet
so many of our brothers and sisters refuse to identify with this promise. Some insist that we are no different than any other people, others choose not to identify as Jews, and some of us are simply afraid. “And you should be to me a kingdom of ‘Kohanim’ and a holy nation” (Shmot 19.6). We’ve got an identity to fess up to. We are charged with the job of acting and behaving in a holy manner, all of the time. That is our true connection to the infinite light of God. That is the revelation of our
soulful purpose in this world..
Introduction to the Jewish concept of the Oral Torah Q&A
Our student Truth Lover commented:
Truth lover said:
Since you asked Gidon, & I am a non-compromising honest person, I must speak what I know to be the truth. The Oral Tradition or the Talmud is NOT divine at all, but man made & for all of you that claim to be disciples of Yahshua (Jesus), you need to follow Him, not traditions of men, no matter who they are. This is what our Master said of the Pharisees in John 8:42–47 “Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye
would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46
Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”
