Dear ,
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Va’era Exodus 6:2-8:28, God reassures Moses that, despite the seemingly bleak outlook, all is going according to His plan. He then sends Moses back to Pharaoh to repeat His demands. The portion also outlines Moses’s genealogy and relates the account of the the first seven plagues.

We continue a new series of Root Source Tours videos of locations and events travelling east from Jerusalem.
Our Root Source teacher, David Ha’ivri, was elected to the Shomron (Samaria) Regional Council in 2019. In this video, that we are rebroadcasting from Return O’ Israel, David shows us how Jewish sovereignty over Judea and Samaria could benefit the Palestinians by taking us to a specific example of Jews and Palestinians working together productively.
Heart-wrenching testimonies from survivors living in Israel, as the Jewish state prepares to host world leaders on the 75th anniversary of the death camp’s liberation.
What’s in a Name. This week’s Torah portion begins with the statement, “V’eleh shmot B’nai Yisrael haba’im Mitzraimah,” and these are the names of the B’nai Yisrael that came to Mitzraim (Shmot 1.1). Reb Levi Yitzchak immediately asks the question, “why does the Torah need to say the word, “shmot,” the names, it simply could have said, and these are the B’nai Yisrael that came to Mitzraim, and then list the names as it does. The Rebbe first
relates to the choosing of the names of all of the tribes and how all of our original mothers, Rachel and Leah chose names for their children. They wanted to connect their children, by name, to the highness of their Creator. Each of their names was of utmost importance.
We sign off with a lovely comment from our Root Source student and a beautiful photo of a Cactus
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

AFP — As he looks at pictures of his parents and sisters who perished in Auschwitz, Szmul Icek begins to tremble, tears clouding his eyes.
It may have been 75 years ago, but for this survivor of the Holocaust the memories of life and death in the Nazi extermination camp remain painfully fresh.

Thank you for sharing your heart on the Jewish perspective on prayer!
Our Student Laura enjoyed Root Source and had this to say:
Laura said:
Very nice discussion about prayer, and how the prayers found in Jewish Siddur prayer book can apply for to both righteous Jews and righteous Christians! Another power principle I like to use in prayer is to pray
the scriptures to the God of Israel. Many of the prayers in the Jewish siddur prayer book have scripture embedded right into the prayer. Thank you for sharing your heart on the Jewish perspective on prayer!
Perhaps the reason why Torah teaching comes FIRST is so that it will INFORM us in how we ought to pray, so that we will pray the will of God!
