Dear ,
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion VAYEITZEI Genesis 28:10-32:3, tells of Jacob’s journey to find a suitable wife among his mother’s relatives. Along the way he dreams his famous dream of angels ascending and descending a ladder. In the home of his uncle, Laban, Jacob marries his two cousins and their two maidservants, who between them bear him twelve children. Jacob then works to earn himself an income, finally fleeing his uncle’s house
in an effort to return to his own homeland, Israel.
Root Source interviews Victoria Sarvadi in the most extended interview we have ever filmed. Our questions are deep and wide, and she answers every one of them with thought-provoking openness on multiple levels. In Part 3, she describes how they not only raised six kids, but also “raised son-in-laws;” how they made decisions to adopt not just once, but twice; and how God used her family to bring her back from utter exhaustion in good
works.
Root Source News & Prayer: On Thursday, Mandelblit announced criminal charges against Netanyahu in three separate cases. The announcement marked the first time in Israel’s history a sitting prime minister has faced indictment on criminal counts. Netanyahu has vowed to stay in office while he fights the charges, which he has decried as a politically motivated “attempted coup.”
A couple months ago we introduced you to Yehudah Katz and the Ma’agal and some of their music. Today we share with you one final performance and a discussion on the Jewish concept of ata echad – You are One.
Enter The Light. It’s Rosh Chodesh Kislev tonight and that means that the light of Chanukah is “mamash” at our doorstep. That’s our signal to get ready. Rav Eliyahu Dessler reminds us that every one of our major holidays has at least a 30 day period which signals the time to prepare. We have the month of Elul prior to Rosh Hashanah which signals the beginning of this intense period of “return” to Hashem’s ways. Purim is our reminder that
Pesach is coming upon us in 30 days. Shavuot has entire seven weeks where we count each day in preparation for once again receiving the Holy Torah.
We sign off with a lovely comment from Root Source student and a beautiful photo of Eilat.
Shalom,
