Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor
forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

Dear ,
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion VAYISHLACH Genesis 32:4-36:43, Jacob prepares to face his brother after many years apart, cognizant of Esau’s vow to destroy him one day. He readies his camp and prays, and sends gifts to appease his brother. Before the encounter, Jacob struggles with an angel who blesses him and gives him a new name. When Jacob finally meets up with Esau, the reunion is more positive than he had hoped.
Root Source interviews Victoria Sarvadi in the most extended interview we have ever filmed. In Part 4, she describes how meeting an angel at age 18, changed her life forever. Dying in the midst of labor and losing her baby, she embarked on a lifelong journey to gain the spiritual treasure that was promised to her by God. Listen as she tells how that encounter led her to embrace the Hebraic roots of our faith.
Once again, Israel is faced with a political impasse that will send Israelis to the ballot boxes. But this time, the timing of the elections, falling on Purim, points at a divine plan hidden behind political events.
AnaRina continues her lecture series on Jerusalem. Were you aware that Jerusalem as a location was not just chosen by God once, but twice?
The Kiss of Life. Yaakov Avinu, our father Jacob, is running away from the physical threat of his brother Esav, who wants Yaakov killed. Although Yaakov is going, by his father Yitzchak’s request, to the home of his mother Rebecca to find a wife, he approaches the entire mission with trepidation. His fear is not simply physical; he seems more concerned with his spiritual well-being. The Netivot Shalom asks, how can he deal with heading to a
land outside of his home in Eretz Yisrael where he is aware that the land is filled with spiritual pollution. How can he, a simple tent dwelling man, “ish tam yoshev ohalim,” (Bereshit 25.27) who spent most of his adult life studying God’s holy words, head out to potentially unprotected territory as he ventures out to spiritual fields unknown.
We sign off with a lovely comment from Root Source student and a beautiful photo of Eilat.
Shalom,

Interview: Victoria Sarvadi – A Surprising Life – 4 – The Angel she met Changed Everything
Root Source interviews Victoria Sarvadi in the most extended interview we have ever filmed. Our questions are deep and wide, and she answers every one of them with thought-provoking openness on multiple levels.

News & Prayer: Israel’s March Elections to Fall on Purim
Once again, Israel is faced with a political impasse that will send Israelis to the ballot boxes. But this time, the timing of the elections, falling on Purim, points at a divine plan hidden behind political events.
Avigdor Liberman announced last Wednesday that he would only support a national unity government. Without the eight seats of his Yisrael Beiteinu party, Netanyahu cannot form a right-wing coalition nor can Benny Gantz form a left-wing coalition. Both have already tried and failed to cobble together coalitions. Neither is willing to make the compromises necessary to form a unity government and both have rejected the option of rotation of the position of prime
minister.
