Behold, God is my salvation; I will
trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2

Dear ,
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Devarim Deuteronomy 1:1-3:22, marks the beginning of the final book of the Torah. After leading the Children of Israel valiantly through the desert for forty years, Moses prepares to part from the people. What follows in the book of Deuteronomy is his farewell speech, delivered over the final six weeks of his life.
On August 11, Gidon is leading a ceremony where an Israeli Government official will be receiving the list of names of the people that have signed the declaration to stand with the Jewish People. This is your last chance to be included on August 11!
The LIST is a compilation of more than 800 atrocities committed by Christians, Christian nations, or in the name of Christ, against the Jews over the past two millennia. Never before has this amount of research been compiled into a single volume by Christians, for Christians.
What IS The LIST? It is a very detailed view through the window of time into the sins of our Church forefathers committed against the Jewish people throughout Christian history. The LIST is comprehensive, thoroughly researched, and almost overwhelming in its scope in revealing the depth and depravity of the sins of our Church forefathers.
A lot of the videos we have put out on Root Source already assume you know something about the 9th of Av. But this interview with Martin Blackham takes it from the beginning. Israel First is a great TV show the plays around the world on various cable and online platforms. If you are new to understanding The 9th of Av, you may enjoy this interview.
Eliyahu Berkowitz takes us on a fast-paced learning spree. In Part 1 he opens one of the books of the Talmud and shows us how it is laid out, and how to study the pages.
What Is The 9th of Av All About? In the Jewish calendar, there are three dawn-to-dusk fast days and one major (25-hour) fast day, all associated with the destruction of the Holy Temples in Jerusalem. Zechariah prophesied that these fast days will eventually become holidays for the Jewish people.
This week’s Torah portion Masei, travels begins by what seems to be a simple listing of the 42 stops that the “B’nai Yisrael” made in the desert as they made their way on the exodus from “Mitzraim” to entering the Holy Land of Israel. Many of the great commentators on the Torah wonder why the Torah would need to list all of the stops made on the way in their journey in such great detail. No stop was left off of the Biblically
recorded itinerary. It is interesting to note that at each junction along the journey the description is the same (Bamidbar 33.5-49). “ Vayisu,” and “they travelled” from a specific location, “vayachanu” and “they camped” in the next location, as if to say to us, they left one place behind and then they camped, paused and assessed where they had arrived.
We sign off with a nice comment from our student and a lovely photo of the Dead Sea Shoreline.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

After leading the Children of Israel valiantly through the desert for forty years, Moses prepares to part from the people. What follows in the book of Deuteronomy is his farewell speech, delivered over the final six weeks of his life.
As the Israel Bible points out, Moses’s speech touches on a variety of topics he feels are important to review before the nation enters the Promised Land. There is something in this book for everyone – young and old, rich and poor, priest and layman – demonstrating that everyone has a place in the Land of Israel.
The portion of Devarim focuses on a number of incidents which took place during Moses’s tenure. It deals with the division of leadership responsibility first mentioned in Exodus 18; the sin of the spies which took place in Numbers 13-14; a number of battles and interactions with foreign states; and the inheritance of the tribes of Reuben, Gad and half of Manasseh, on the east bank of the Jordan River, which we first learned about last
week, in Numbers 32.
Happy Studying!

If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and
also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.” Leviticus 26:40-42
What is the “iniquity of their fathers”? This passage has often been used by Christians as a prayer of repentance for generational sin in the family bloodline. But could it be that there is another dimension to that phrase? Could it be that the message for today is that it is time to apply these verses over the Church at large?

Thus said the lord of Hosts: The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth month, the fast of the seventh month, and the fast of the tenth month shall become occasions for joy and gladness, happy festivals for the House of Yehuda; but you must love honesty and integrity. Zechariah 8:19

Wow! This is right where I am today.

Our Student Abigail enjoyed Root Source and had this to say.
Abigail said:
Wow! This is right where I am today. Just this morning, I was sitting on my deck, just looking at the “jungle” of growth around us and listening to all the amazing sounds of Hashem’s creatures. I have been crying out for Him to lead me and guide me and to show me the way in which He would have me go. And He is doing it. My vision and purpose have been becoming clearer and clearer every day. The Torah talks about two witnesses. I
believe what you wrote here is a witness to what I have been seeing, too.
