Dear ,
As in the past, Gidon is coming to the USA, focusing on Dallas, Texas. He will also be the South Florida, Washington DC (at CUFI), Tulsa, OK and Denver, Colorado. (Whew!)
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Chukat Numbers 22:1, begins with the laws of the red heifer, an unusual ritual which causes the participant to become pure, but those involved in the preparation to become impure. From there, the narrative picks up again with the death of Moses’s sister, Miriam, and a lack of water for the people. Moses and Aaron are told by God that they have failed to sanctify His name before the people and as a result
are destined to die in the desert. In fact, Aaron’s death is also recorded in this portion.
What was it that the “meraglim,” spies, were so afraid of? Why couldn’t they see that which Yehoshu and Kalev saw that the land was very very good ( Bamidbar14.7)! Why was Korach actin gout so strongly, gathering a mob to gang up on Moshe Rabenu in the name of equality. He was willing to go as far as to chance it in a public forum in front of God Himself. His jealousy and desire for honor were so strong, says The Slonimer Rebbe, that he
literally removed himself from reality.
Gidon continues reacting to the parables of Luke 15 as we take up the parable of the Lost Coin. Christians may find it fascinating watching an Orthodox Jew hearing a Parable of Jesus for the first time, and watching how he connects it in his mind to his own Jewish education in Israel.

In concluding Part 3, Abe Truitt, after having suggested we make some changes to the first Nations’ 9th of Av event in Jerusalem in 2019, Bob asks him how will the Jews react to our presence with them? His answer reveals an aspect of Israel that is not generally known to Christians. (12:54)
Bob O’Dell interviews Abe Truitt. In Part 2, Abe describes for Bob O’Dell his reaction to hearing about our initial plans for the observing the 9th of Av in Jerusalem in 2019, what Abe suggested that we as Christians do differently, and how the IFCJ could help.
THE HAGUE, Netherlands — The Dutch national rail company said Wednesday it will pay tens of millions of euros in compensation for Jews transported to Nazi death camps during World War II. The payment by Nederlandse Spoorwegen for what it calls a “black page in the history of the company”and is for survivors who were taken to camps, plus relatives of those who died.
We sign off with a photo of a Church of Holy Sepulchre.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

What is it that we are so afraid of that stops us from begging God to bring the “geulah,” the ultimate Peace and redemption, right now?
