You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and
I have set you apart from the nations to be my own. Leviticus 20:26

Dear ,
This week, the weekly Torah reading Beha’alotecha Numbers 8:1 – 12:16, contains a number of legal and technical details, as well as stories. We are told of the Levites’ appointment as assistants to the priestly service, and the celebration of Passover in the desert after the exodus. The preparations and arrangements for travel are outlined, as well. We read of two incidents in which the Israelites express dissatisfaction with God, and
how He responds. Finally, we learn that even Biblical heroes make mistakes, as Moses’s siblings are punished for gossiping about their brother.
Yehudah Katz talks to Bob O’Dell about his new Torah portion blog, which will begin to be featured in each Root Source Newsletter. He also answers why it includes art and music contributions each week.
The tragedy that our friends at Moshav Meor Mevo Modiim have experienced strikes me as one which brings with it a great awakening for all of Israel and the world. What other group of people could simultaneously suffer the loss of their homes and immediately realize the blessing being sent to them by Hashem. “The outpouring of “chessed,” loving kindness , has been tremendous,” one of the members said upon greeting us last week. “What a nation
of loving people.” he said to me, “One nation in the Land.”
Root Source Interviews Dean Bye, of the Aliyah Return Center. In part 2, he shows us the work they are doing and tells us how they ended up partnering with the Jewish Agency.

Studio See is Done, Any Feedback? Several people commented on the final article, but I was already thinking to put out a quick note asking if people had any feedback on the series.
Why are South Koreans Flocking to Israel for Bible Study? Studying ancient texts is fascinating. But it’s one thing to examine them in a stuffy classroom, and quite another to immerse yourself in the world from which they originated. Just ask the South Korean students studying the Hebrew Bible bang in the middle of the Holy Land.
We sign off with a beautiful photo of a Stained Glass Windows.
Shalom,

A New Feature on Root Source – Yehudah Katz Introduces it!

Yehudah Katz talks to Bob O’Dell about his new Torah portion blog, which will begin to be featured in each Root Source Newsletter. He also answers why it includes art and music contributions each week.
Note that since he writes his blog just prior to Shabbat, and our newsletter comes out on Monday, the writing we include from Yehudah can be thought of as a final thought for the previous week’s Torah portion. (4:38)

The tragedy that our friends at Moshav Meor Mevo Modiim have experienced strikes me as one which brings with it a great awakening for all of Israel and the world. he said to me, “One nation in the Land.” These people were obviously prepared to be strong enough to ensure this emotional tragedy while at the same time being open to receiving blessing that they may only have dreamed of in their lives. These are students of Reb Shlomo Calrebach.

Jubilee Now FINAL EDITION!
|
In the summer of 2016, Bob O’Dell and Gidon Ariel published Jubilee NOW, to explore and delve deeply into the concept of the Jubilee, the Yovel, and try to understand what God means for us to know and do. This was especially important as, in contrast to Shemitah and Blood Moons, there are barely any books written for Christians about the Jubilee. God had left this field wide open so to speak, and in Jubilee NOW!, O’Dell and Ariel introduced this critical topic
to the world very seriously.
So much has changed since then, that we have published a FINAL EDITION of this book, with close to a hundred pages of new content, bringing this exciting topic up to date!
If you bought the first edition of Jubilee NOW, you will be fascinated to read this new edition.
And if you missed out on all the excitement, you will be FASCINATED by the research that is presented in Jubilee Now FINAL EDITION!

Studio See is Over. Any Feedback?
|
Several people commented on the final article, but I was already thinking to put out a quick note asking if people had any feedback on the series.
My two main questions are:
Do you have a favorite column or two? There is no need to quote the title, just say “That one about xyz” or “That one where you said abc”. I’ll know which one it was.
How are YOU different after reading this series? Have any changes happened? Do you plan any?
Blessings and Shalom,
Bob O’Dell
Why are South Koreans Flocking to Israel for Bible Study?

Studying ancient texts is fascinating. But it’s one thing to examine them in a stuffy classroom, and quite another to immerse yourself in the world from which they originated. Just ask the South Korean students studying the Hebrew Bible bang in the middle of the Holy Land.
You won’t have much difficulty finding them. Over the past few years, the Bible department at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan has hosted numerous students from South Korea who have traveled across the world to study sacred texts in their original language and setting.
One such student is Kim Kyoungsik, a 38-year-old Christian pastor from Seoul.
