This week, the weekly Torah reading Vayakhel, Moses gathers the Jews and relays to them all the details regarding the construction of the Tabernacle and its vessels. The actual construction is also described. This portion repeats many of the details described in the portion of Terumah, wherein God instructed Moses how the Tabernacle and its vessels were to be constructed.
We don’t talk much about our personal lives here on Root Source, but some things you just can’t hold back. Root Source’s CEO and co-founder, Gidon Ariel, has five children, and one of them, Akiva, got married last week!

Our friends, rabbis Jeremy Gimpel and Ari Abramowitz have recently put out a music video of Psalm 150 called “Kol Neshama” literally “All Souls”. I first heard this song when Jeremy taught it to a group in Texas in the summer of 2017. This is a full production and instrumentation of it, and very importantly it includes sub-titles!

Weekly Portion:
Vayakhel – March 2 – 25th of Adar I, 5779
|
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Vayakhel, Exodus 35:1 – 38:20, Moses assembles the people of Israel and reiterates to them the commandment to observe the Shabbat. He then conveys God’s instructions regarding the making of the Mishkan (Tabernacle). The people donate the required materials in abundance, bringing gold, silver and copper; blue-, purple- and red-dyed wool; goat hair, spun linen, animal skins, wood, olive oil, herbs and precious stones. Moses
has to tell them to stop giving.
In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading I Kings 7:13 – 7:26, describes the construction of several components of the Holy Temple by the wise craftsman Hiram of Tyre, paralleling the Torah portion which describes the construction of the Tabernacle by the wise Bezalel and his crew of craftspeople.
