Dear ,
This week, the weekly Torah reading Yitro, Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, arrives at the Israelite encampment and advises them to set up a smoothly functioning legal system. The Israelites experience the divine revelation at Mount Sinai, and hear the Ten Commandments.
In the summer of 2016, Bob O’Dell and Gidon Ariel published Jubilee NOW. So much has changed since then, that we have published a FINAL EDITION of this book, with close to a hundred pages of new content, bringing this exciting topic up to date! Buy the new edition, for a limited time only up to SIXTY FIVE PERCENT OFF! Get it here.
Rabbi Elan Adler talks from Jerusalem giving advice from Pirkei Avot, the Chapters of the Fathers, (sometimes known as the Ethics of the Fathers) and explains the Jewish view on the right way and the wrong way to interact with government officials, as well as advice for those who want to get involved in politics.
Studio See 33. The word salvation is about as loaded a word as you can get in Christianity. “Are you saved?” “Do you have eternal life?” “Do you know where you are going when you die?” These are central questions that Christians, especially we Evangelical Christians, associate with salvation. And these very same questions have been asked by Christians for hundreds of years as we have sought to spread the Gospel around the
world.
We also have a photo of last night's Blood Moon just taken by Bob O'Dell. He promises more photos next week.
Root Source tours and Gidon Ariel takes you outside to tell you stories about the view from his backyard in Maele Hever near Hebron, (Hevron). (8:55)
This week, we feature a question from our student Melissa who was wanting a Jewish point of view on the Ancient Book of Jasher.
We sign off with a nice photo.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

Weekly Portion:
Yitro – January 26 – 20th of Sh’vat, 5779
|
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Yitro, Exodus 18:1 – 20:23, Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, hears of the great miracles which God performed for the people of Israel, and comes from Midian to the Israelite camp, bringing with him Moses’ wife and two sons. Jethro advises Moses to appoint a hierarchy of magistrates and judges to assist him in the task of governing and administering justice to the people.
In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Isaiah 6:1–13 , discusses Isaiah’s vision of the Heavenly Chariot (the merkavah), a revelation that was experienced by all the Israelites when God spoke the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai—an event recounted in this week’s Torah reading.
Happy studying!
Jubilee Now FINAL EDITION!
|
In the summer of 2016, Bob O’Dell and Gidon Ariel published Jubilee NOW, to explore and delve deeply into the concept of the Jubilee, the Yovel, and try to understand what God means for us to know and do. This was especially important as, in contrast to Shemitah and Blood Moons, there are barely any books written for Christians about the Jubilee. God had left this field wide open so to speak, and in Jubilee NOW!, O’Dell and Ariel introduced this critical topic
to the world very seriously.
So much has changed since then, that we have published a FINAL EDITION of this book, with close to a hundred pages of new content, bringing this exciting topic up to date!
If you bought the first edition of Jubilee NOW, you will be fascinated to read this new edition.
And if you missed out on all the excitement, you will be FASCINATED by the research that is presented in Jubilee Now FINAL EDITION!

Studio See: 033 – Are the Blood Moons About Salvation?
|
The word salvation is about as loaded a word as you can get in Christianity. “Are you saved?” “Do you have eternal life?” “Do you know where you are going when you die?” These are central questions that Christians, especially we Evangelical
Christians, associate with salvation. And these very same questions have been asked by Christians for hundreds of years as we have sought to spread the Gospel around the world.
The Blood Moons, however, are quite new to the lexicon of Christianity. While they took the Christian prophetic world by storm in 2014, they might have remained completely ignored by the Orthodox Jewish world were it not for Tuly Weisz and
Breaking Israel News, whose editorial approach seemed to be noJewish point of view on the Ancient Book of Jasher.t “why to cover it”, but “why not”? Tuly was the very first Orthodox Rabbi who I ever found writing about the blood moons, and that was in the Spring of 2014 at the time of the first of the Four Blood Moons.

What is your opinion on the Book of Jasher?
|
This week, we feature a question from our student Melissa who was wanting a Jewish point of view on the Ancient Book of Jasher.
Melissa wrote:
Shalom,
I have been reading the Book of Jasher.
What is your opinion on the Book of Jasher? I know it’s a historic book and not of much importance, but it seems to fill in some of the missing pieces of the puzzle. Like the ages of some important people such as Isaac being age 37 when Abraham was going to sacrifice him. People here think he was like under 13 years of age. It also talks of Leah and Rachel being twins! Jasher 28:28, mind blowing! Other things like Adam and Eve’s garments.
I’m Christian and I was wanting a Jewish point of view on this Ancient book and your thoughts.
