Dear ,
This week, the weekly Torah reading Vayishlach, Jacob returns to Canaan, but is fearful of his brother Esau. They meet and make peace. Jacob wrestles with an angel, and his name is changed to Israel. Jacob's daughter Dinah is abducted by the prince of Shechem. Shimon and Levi destroy the city of Shechem and liberate Dinah. Rachel dies while giving birth to Jacob's twelfth son, Benjamin. Isaac dies.
Root Source Interviews. Christine Darg tells the story behind the founding of Root Source, and the explanation from Orthodox Jew Gidon Ariel that made “all the difference” for her regarding how she, as worldwide evangelist, should interact with the Jews.
Studio See 026. Some weeks ago I wrote a column in this series called So You Want to Write a Book? I was surprised about the number of positive comments I received on it, more privately than publicly. While not every reader is meant to be a writer, every one of us needs to read — which is our topic for today. But with reading in decline, I went with the culture and chose a more popular title!
Elan Adler talks about how when the Torah scrolls write regarding the Daughters of Zelophehad, that when Moses brought their case (Mishpatan) that the last letter, the Nun is written with a very long stem in the Torah.
We sign off with a lovely quote from a Root Source student and an amazing photo.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

Weekly Portion:
Vayishlach – November 24 – 16th of Kislev
|
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Vayishlach Genesis 32:4 – 36:43, Jacob returns to the Holy Land after a 20-year stay in Charan, and sends angel-emissaries to Esau in hope of a reconciliation, but his messengers report that his brother is on the warpath with 400 armed men. Jacob prepares for war, prays, and sends Esau a large gift (consisting of hundreds of heads of livestock) to appease him.
In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Obadiah 1:1 – 1:21, mentions the punishment of Edom, the descendants of Esau, whose conflict with Jacob is chronicled in this week’s Torah reading.
Happy studying!
Root Source Interviews:
Christine Darg – 2 – An Evangelist Among the Jews?
|
The topic of Christians evangelizing Jews is not a subject we touch regularly at Root Source, however, when interviewing a end-times teacher and evangelist who has been very successful in reaching Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ, I (Bob) felt I could not move past that interview topic without asking her about how she interacts with Jews in general, and Gidon in particular.
In Part 2 of our interview Christine Darg tells the story behind the founding of Root Source, and the explanation from Orthodox Jew Gidon Ariel that made “all the difference” for her regarding how she, as worldwide evangelist, should interact with the Jews.
Studio See: 026 – So You Want to Watch a Movie?

Some weeks ago I wrote a column in this series called So You Want to Write a Book? I was surprised about the number of positive comments I received on it, more privately than publicly. While not every reader is meant to be a writer, every one

However, the real topic is fiction in all its forms: whether a movie, a book or any form of invented story.
Elan Adler – Insight on the
Daughters of Zelophehad
|
Elan Adler talks about how when the Torah scrolls write regarding the Daughters of Zelophehad, that when Moses brought their case (Mishpatan) that the last letter, the Nun is written with a very long stem in the Torah.
Rabbi Adler then explains and what that unusually long stem might mean. (2:26)
This 4 part series was so enlightening!

Sandra enjoyed Root Source and had this to say.

This 4 part series was so enlightening. I more than appreciate hearing the words from the Torah and the meaning from a well educated Jewish perspective. I desire and thirst for the perspective of God’s word from God’s chosen people. I find it so enriching and it sings to my soul. The depth and layers are sometimes so much more extensive than a modern day Western perspective. Thank you again. I felt the heart of everything Rabbi
Chaim Eisen wanted to share with his audience, Love! God’s love and the passion and urgency to share God’s love with all people. Shalom
