This week, the weekly Torah reading Ki Teitzei, contains 74
commandments, more mitzvot than any other Torah portion. Some of the commandments discussed: the law of the rebellious son, the obligation to bury the dead without undue delay, the requirement to return a found object, the prohibition against causing pain to any living creature, the prohibition against prostitution, the laws of marriage and divorce, the procedure of the Levirate marriage, and the obligation to eradicate the memory of Amalek.
Last week, Sondra Baras explained how the same story is told differently in Numbers and Deuteronomy and begins to make the case for Moses’ state of mind. Now in Part 2, she concludes with a Q&A session that allows her to explain why she spoke the way she did about Moses.
Studio See 015. The feedback we have received about THE LIST
has been very strong. About 2,000 people downloaded the document and over 200 people took the time to write us back and share their reactions. From that feedback we now see that the vast majority felt like Ray and I did: awakened to the full extent of the tragedy committed against Jews in the name of Christ. While we only asked people to read the document, many went beyond that. Many felt and acted on to the need to repent for the actions of their Christian forefathers.
Only 3 weeks to go! A man I know has made a discovery that is….well….stunning. This man is a Christian who loves the Jews, loves Israel, and loves the Jewish roots of his faith!
We are now only a few weeks away from Rosh Hashanah, the first
day of the Jewish year. The month of Elul which we are in the midst of has a strong tradition of bring a month of introspection and renewal towards repentance on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, ten days afterwards.
We are happy to present to you a guest blog post from Root Source friend.
As we reported last week we have updated THE LIST.
This update, version 1.02, fixes typos and clarifies a few items but does not make any significant content changes.
We sign off with a sincere quote from a Root Source student and an amazing photo of the City Sculpture.

Weekly Portion: Ki Teitzei- August 25 – 13th of Elul
|
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Shoftim Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9, Moses instructs the people of Israel to appoint judges and law enforcement officers in every city. “Justice, justice shall you pursue,” he commands them, and you must administer it without corruption or favoritism. Crimes must be meticulously
investigated and evidence thoroughly examined—a minimum of two credible witnesses is required for conviction and punishment. In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Isaiah 51:12 – 52:12, is the fourth of a series of seven “Haftarot of Consolation.” These seven haftarot commence on the Shabbat following Tisha b’Av and continue until Rosh Hashanah.

Moses Pleads with God – A Surprising Analysis by Sondra Baras – Part 2/2

Root Source teacher Sondra Baras of Christian Friends of Israeli Communities gave an amazing talk regarding Moses pleading with God to let him enter the land of Israel. This is Torah Portion Va’etchanan in Deuteronomy 3.
Root Source members get immediate access to all of her Torah Portion (Parasha) teachings by accessing her Root Source Channel – Shabbat Shalom.
In Part 1 she explained how the same story is told differently in Numbers and Deuteronomy and begins to make the case for Moses’ state of mind. Now in Part 2, she concludes with a Q&A session that allows her to explain why she spoke
the way she did about Moses. (27:53)

My neighbor Netanel Epstein is a popular cartoonist in Israel, and has produced this light but at the same time deep cartoon about this self introspection. What do you think of it?
What is a Repentance that Leads to National Reformation?
|
What does a national reformation look like? What will it take for a national reformation to happen? Let’s take a look at an example in the bible from 2 kings 22. King Josiah is in a building program to rebuild and repair the breaches of the temple. In this process, the book of the law, the Torah, is
discovered by Hilkiah, buried under some rubble. Hilkiah, the High Priest brings the Torah to Shaphan, the scribe, who then brings it to King Josiah. When King Josiah reads the word of God, the Torah, this is his reaction:
