We hope you join in on the celebration of the move of the US Embassy to
Jerusalem on the 70th anniversary of the re-establishment of the State of Israel. In addition, we have an interview this week with Lesley Richardson about Shavuot, which is coming in less one week. Bob publishes his first column in Studio See, and we move to Part 2 of the Hinnom Valley series.
This week, the weekly Torah reading Bamidbar, begins the Book of Numbers, the fourth of the Five Books of Moses. This book
of the Torah opens on the first of Iyar, one month after the inauguration of the Tabernacle, and several weeks before the Jews will depart from Mount Sinai and begin their journey to the Holy Land. In this week's portion the Israelites and the Tribe of Levi are counted separately. God instructs the Israelites on how to camp in the desert, surrounding the Tabernacle. The Levites are informed the procedure for dismantling the Tabernacle before traveling.
Root Source Interviews Lesley Richardson, In part 5, Lesley shares from one of the chapters of her book, Bible Gems from Jerusalem, that deal with Shavuot and Moses on Mount Sinai. The discussion centers around Moses as intercessor and the importance of mercy as a prime attribute of God and in leadership.
You couldn’t write fiction better than this, but yet
it wasn’t fiction. Do you remember how you felt in the Spring and Summer of 2015? It was a time when the Christian world was reaching levels of End Times hysteria like never before.
Root Source Tours takes you to the Hinnom valley in Jerusalem that still shouts out its stories of Life,
Death, Hell and Redemption.
We sign off with a lovely quote from a Root Source student and an amazing photo of Mount Hermon from Galilee.

Weekly Portion: Bamidbar – May 19 – 5th of Sivan |
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Bamidbar Numbers 1:1 – 4:20, in the Sinai Desert, God says to conduct a census of the twelve tribes of Israel. Moses counts 603,550 men of draftable age (20 to 60 years); the tribe of Levi, numbering 22,300 males age one month and older, is counted separately. The Levites are to
serve in the Sanctuary, replacing the firstborn, whose number they approximated, who were disqualified when they participated in the worshipping of the Golden Calf. The 273 firstborn who lacked a Levite to replace them had to pay a five-shekel “ransom” to redeem themselves
In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Hosea 2:1 – 2:22, begins with the words, “The number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea [shore], which can be
neither measured nor counted.” An appropriate reading for the first Torah reading of the Book of Numbers.
Happy Studying!

You couldn’t write fiction better than this, but yet it wasn’t
fiction.
Do you remember how you felt in the Spring and Summer of 2015? It was a time when the Christian world was reaching levels of End Times hysteria like never
before.
We were right in the middle of the four Blood Moons, two having passed ominously in 2014 with two more coming. We were also right in the middle of the Shemitah year,
heading towards its dramatic conclusion in September 2015. The pattern was extremely compelling: 9/11 had occurred at the conclusion of the Shemitah year in 2001, and the biggest stock market collapse in decades had occurred exactly seven years later in 2008. All eyes were on the Fall of 2015. Bank failures? War with Israel? Gog/Magog? Apocalypse? The Great Tribulation? And right in the midst of this emotional vortex was the 4th Blood Moon, perfectly timed and uniquely visible from
Jerusalem.
Root Source Tours: Hinnom Valley – 2 – The Flow of Life |
The Hinnom valley in Jerusalem still shouts out its stories of Life, Death, Hell and Redemption.
In part 2, we show you how God established this valley to be one in which life flowed, as it was
designed establish the border between the tribe of Judah, Benjamin and Jerusalem.

Our student Becky enjoyed Root Source and had
this to say. Becky
wrote: Wonderful, Bob. From the beginning of Root Source I had longed for commentary on how a Christian can apply the Jewish truths. I believe your column will be rich.
