Dear Root Source Students,

Today, Monday, is the last of the 8 days of Hanukkah. We've been busy lighting candles, spending time with family and friends, and learning and teaching about this important holiday. And it seems we have about EIGHT items in this week's newsletter, so please enjoy!

In this week's issue, we are happy to share a fascinating and perhaps controversial perspective on Hanukkah from one of Israel's leading rabbis. We'll be happy to hear what you think!

When we wrote Israel FIRST! we dared make some predictions, it looked like Gidon foresaw one! Details below.

We are happy to feature two articles about the Jubilee published in Breaking Israel News. Please read them, comment on them, and share them!

Do you know where Mount Sinai is? Avi Lipkin, our teacher of Understanding Islam, has a theory and we think he's on to something!

We round out this issue with another beautiful photo of the Land of Israel. Tell us what you think about this new part of our newsletter.

Don't forget to claim your Hanukkah gift from us to you - tremendous savings on Root Source membership and Israel FIRST!
Shalom,

Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

Gidon Predicts Bold Rabbis' Statement!

We are proud of our friends at CJCUC. the Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding and Cooperation in Efrat (a few minutes drive from Gidon's house!:-)

They have come out with a bold statement that can bring Christian-Jewish Relations to a whole new level.

Well, as Bob pointed out, Gidon alluded to this development in one of the chapters of Israel FIRST!

Hanukkah: The Holiday of Education

Hanukkah is not just a Jewish version of Christmas, or an opportunity to exchange gifts and eat potato pancakes. What is it, really?

Read this fascinating article by Rabbi Eliezer Melamed (whose name interestingly enough means "God helps me to teach"!) and find out for yourself!

The Six-Day War and the Lost Jubilee

Why are people getting excited about the years 2016 and 2017 in connection with the Jubilee?

                                                                                                                 Read about it now! >>>

The Lost Jubilee - A Roman Holiday?

We just discussed the significance of the year 1967 to the Jewish people and Israel: the reunification of Jerusalem and its establishment as the eternal capital of Israel. We then added 49 and 50 years to that date, suggesting that 2016 and 2017 are critical years to watch closely.

But what about non-Jews?

Please read, comment on, and share this article!

Avi Lipkin thinks THIS is the right crossing point and location of Mount Sinai

Do you know where Mount Sinai is?

Avi Lipkin, our teacher of Understanding Islam, has a theory and we think he might be on to something!

You will have to sign up for Avi's channel to watch his lesson series called "Return to Mecca", but here's the theory on Youtube.

The Majestic Hills of the Jordan Valley

We are pleased to share this beautiful picture of the mountains of Edom and Moab, on the border of the Judean Hills where the story of the battles of Hanukkah took place. Photo copyright by Sherwood Burton. daystardawn@outlook.com. Thank you Sherwood for this lovely photo!
