Parashat Bechukotai

This week’s reading, Bechukotai, contains a vivid description of the rewards for observing G‑d‘s commandments and the series of punishments that will befall us if we choose to disregard them. The Torah then discusses different types of gifts given to the Temple, and the animal tithe.

"Thank you for the side note on the the Spring festivals being known as the Pilgrimage festivals!
It is filling in a blank for me about why the ancient Christian liturgical year, which was originally based on the Jewish festivals, retains only the Spring festivals in its remembrance, albeit in a solar calendar and somewhat altered meanings.
I am not sure exactly what it means, but my initial meditation is that the Church has also not arrived at its destination, being on a continual pilgrimage, awaiting it’s King’s return. From the perspective of the Apostolic Writings, this is precisely true and correct. In Church practice and faith, not so much a majority view any more.
This may not be of significance from your perspective, but it brings to me a greater awareness of God’s continual provision for men to know Him, in spite of what understanding that we humans lose to the passing of time.
Thank you, Rabbi Meyer for the meditation and inspiration, and Gidon for the venue!
