Chanukah: All about the holiday
The Hebrew word Chanukah means “dedication,” and is thus named because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple (as you’ll read below). Also spelled Hanukkah (or variations of that spelling), the Hebrew word is actually pronounced with a guttural, “kh” sound, kha-nu-kah, not tcha-new-kah.
Bob O'Dell interview with First Century Foundations
How could Christianity – which initially was completely Jewish – suddenly turn against the Jewish people and claim to have replaced them in God’s plan for the world? When did the first non-Jew convert to Christianity? Did he have a good relationship with the Jewish
people?
Miketz: Rabbi Gedalia Meyer's Weekly Torah Study
Our popular Root Source teacher Rabbi Gedalia Meyer has been giving short weekly teaching on the Weekly Portion for the Temple Institute.
We are grateful to our friends at the Temple Institute who gave permission to provide Rabbi Meyer’s teachings here too.

Conversations about Chanukah with Dr. Richard Booker and Gidon Ariel
We hereby launch our Conversations channel at Root Source!
For the time being, we will be featuring a pre-recorded video of a conversation that Gidon Ariel, CEO of Root Source, had with Dr. Richard Booker, founder/director of the Institute for Hebraic-Christian Studies.
Our Root Source teacher, Dr. Rivkah Adler, featured in the Jerusalem Post
In September we celebrated the launch of Rivkah’s book, “Lighting Up The Nations.” This week, the Jerusalem Post decided to celebrate as well!
Root Source "New Years' Eve 2022" and Birthday Party for Gidon and Bob
Who doesn't love a party?
This coming December 30th, we'll have a lot to celebrate!
On December 30th, we will congratulate Gidon Ariel and Bob O'Dell, founders of Root Source, for their vision of a space where Jews and Christians can be together and be friends, learning with each other and about each other. Both Gidon and Bob were born in "-ember" months, so we will take this opportunity to wish them both a
"lechayim!"
Please purchase a ticket (it's free, of course:-) and add a US tax deductible
donation to Root Source.
God bless you! See you there!
Do you know what tribe you're from?
My friend Christopher wrote:
Hi Gidon!
I had a quick question: do you know what tribe you’re from?
My response:
The question is quick but the answer is long😜
As written in the Book of Genesis, the third forefather of the Nation of Israel, Jacob, had 12 sons, whose descendants became the Tribes of Israel. These tribes settled in their tribal inheritance lands in the Holy Land, from Dan in the north until Judah in the south. The tribe of Levi was not given a land inheritance, but rather was commanded to serve in the Temple and be itinerant teachers.
We get so many comments!
Here is one from Karenkaje22 on RS Tours: Golan 8 - Mount Hermon & Transfiguration?
" I have really enjoyed this tour. This episode is especially insightful. How interesting the thought why Jesus spoke Hebrew instead of Aramaic. I love the teaching on the puns. Thank you so much, Bob!"
