This week’s portion leaves the narrative behind and focuses instead on Torah law. It deals extensively with case law between man and man, but also includes a number of laws between man and God. It is concerned with justice and righteous behavior.

"For me it’s just a day to get together with family and friends and have fun. We get together either at home or someplace else, have some special treats to eat and drink. As long as you don’t make a pig of yourself I think it’s fine. Sometimes just forgetting about your troubles and having fun is a welcome break, especially with everything that’s been going on. In Deuteronomy 14:16 God seems to be OK with us having a little fun now and again. 🙂"
