,
It's happening tomorrow! We are launching our biggest project yet!
This week, we continue reading the Torah, this week from the portion of Toledot.
We have an Ask The Rabbi question about the difference between the Jewish Bible and the Christian
one. Bob begins a series about the President Elect, we'd love to hear your comments!
Bob continues his virtual tour of the Museum of the Tower of David in Jerusalem.
We sign off with our lovely quote from a student and a beautiful picture of a rainy night in
Jerusalem.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell Root Source Founders

As we announce last week, tomorrow we are launching a project we have been working on for months. As a hint, this will be a chance for you to show your love for Israel! But you wouldn't expect anything else from us, would you..:-)
Please keep an eye on your inbox and respond favorably!
Weekly Portion: Toledot – December 3 – 3 Kislev |
This Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Toledot (The Life and Times of), Genesis 25:19 – 28:9, is the only portion that focuses on the middle patriarch, Isaac, but even still opens and closes with stories about his son Jacob. In between, the stories about Isaac mostly mirror some stories about Abraham his father.
The two best known stories are Jacob’s birth with his twin brother Esau, and his purchase of the family’s birthright from Esau for a stew of lentils; and Isaac’s blessing of Jacob towards the end of the portion.
These stories, because of the apparent trickery employed by Jacob and his mother
Rebecca, as well as the traditional identification of Esau with Christianity in Jewish sources, make this week’s reading fascinating and challenging.
Ask the Rabbi: Are All Haftarahs from the Prophets? |
This week, we feature a question that Bob O’Dell posed (partnership has its privileges:-) He was asking about the contents of the Haftarah of last week’s portion, Chayei Sarah: Why does the Prophets portions have passages outside of the
Prophets? I could understand last week with Elisha (II Kings 4:1 – 4:37, that recounts stories of Elisha the Prophet’s miracles), because while it was not in a book of a prophet it was a story about a prophet. But this week (I Kings 1:1 – 1:31, which tells the story of the search for a companion for King David and a story of transfer of power from King David to his son Solomon)?

Understanding Trump Part 1: How He Sees the World |
Once again, Breaking Israel News is host to another innovative op ed by Bob O'Dell! In this
article we begin to take on the challenge of trying to understand the man who will soon be leader of the free world, a man who has defied understanding for so many. Who is this man? What is his vision for America? What are his strengths and what are his blind spots? Why was he so vicious on the campaign trail? Why is he walking back many of his campaign promises so quickly? All of these questions can be answered readily if we really know the man. Thankfully the Bible as the
source of all truth offers insights in every area of life, including how to understand people from the inside out.
