Dear ,

We continue this week with the new program we started last week, the weekly Torah readings.

Rosh Hashanah, the biblical Feast of Trumpets, is upon us, coming up this next Monday, October 3rd and 4th. In this week's newsletter, Gidon provides a comprehensive introduction to this holy day and its themes.

We also shed some light on a famous prayer of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Unetaneh Tokef.

We also conclude Bob's presentation about the Jubilee - you won't want to miss this!

And we finish up as usual with a beautiful comment from one of our students and a beautiful picture from the Land of Israel.

Shalom,

Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

Weekly Torah Portion:
Nitzavim (Standing)

This week we read Nitzavim (Standing), Deuteronomy 29:9 – 30:20, which mostly revisits Moses’ and God’s exhortation to the people to keep the commandments.

This week, the week just before the holiday of Rosh Hashana, is especially fitting for this portion to be read, as it includes the “Passage of Teshuva,” return or repentance, which appear in chapter 30 verses 1-10.

Rosh Hashanah Is Upon Us!

Judaism has a whole bunch of holidays, most from the Bible going back thousands of years.

Rosh Hashanah, literally the head or beginning of the year, is one of the most important holidays, but there is a lot about it that is not well known.

Gidon Ariel teaches about some of the basics of this important holiday.

Your comments and questions are welcome!

Let Us Now Relate The Power

I have just heard a famous rendition of one of the most famous of the Rosh Hashanah prayers, and I hope some of you might be able to taste a bit of the striking beauty and significance of the prayer, its words and its haunting melody.

This article will actually focus on what is often relegated as culture, because it has truly become a very important part of Israeli culture, especially where that culture intersects with Judaism.

Is the Jubilee Year Now?

Are we in a Jubilee Year?

What should a Jubilee year look like?

What has happened in the World, and what should happen in a Biblical Jubilee Year?

In this presentation, Bob O’Dell presents some of the findings covered in the new Root Source book, Jubilee NOW!
