Root Source Tours shows more highlights of the City of David part 2. We look at Jeremiah’s pit, the palace of King David, and the walls of Jerusalem.

We are happy to share with you an interesting article written by our good friend Jerry Klinger.

Weekly Portion:
Yitro – February 3 – 18 Sh’vat

In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Mishpatim Exodus 21:1 – 24:18, Following the revelation at Sinai, God legislates a series of laws for the people of Israel. These include the laws of the indentured servant; the penalties for murder, kidnapping, assault and theft; civil laws pertaining to redress of damages, the granting of loans and the responsibilities of the “Four Guardians”; and the rules governing the conduct of justice by courts of law.

In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Jeremiah 34:8 – 34:22; 33:25 – 33:26, Jeremiah describes the punishment that would befall the Jews because they continued enslaving their Hebrew slaves after six years of service—transgressing the commandment discussed in the beginning of this week’s Torah reading.

Happy studying!

The Mystery of the Lost Jubilee:
Part 29 – When Is For You

That crazy title is not a typo, and we will explain it later. But first, listen up!

We are almost ready to solve the Mystery of the Lost Jubilee! You have been on a journey with us, as if we were all players in a grand mystery movie. This brief gap in the movie serves a purpose. It gives the audience time to reflect on all they have seen: all the facts, all the clues, and to determine if they too are able to view those facts and clues in the same context as the person who claims to have solved the mystery.

From the Old Maccabees to the New Maccabees “A wrong made right”

Every year there are fewer and fewer of them.  The “they” are Machal, a Hebrew acronym for – Volunteers from Outside of Israel. They came to defend the Jewish people and help birth the State during its War of Independence, 1947-1949.

They came from 59 countries. There were fewer than 5,000 of them out of 2,000,000 Jews who had served in World War II Allied Armies. Yitzhak Rabin poignantly said years later about them, “You came when we needed you most, during those dark and uncertain days in our War of Independence. You gave us not only your experience, but your lives as well. The People of Israel and the State of Israel will never forget.”

For the most part, Israel did forget them.

Lately, I have been listening to several sermons about the peace of G-d, and I found this video with Ana Rina to be a rich complement to my understanding of Shalom that He extends to those who love Him and live according to His precepts. Praise our great and amazing G-d. Thank you for this series.
