This week, the weekly Torah reading
Noach, Noah and his family, along with at least one pair of each living creature, survive the Flood by taking refuge in an Ark. The erection of the Tower of Babel angers God, and leads to the dispersal of Noah's descendants. Abraham and Sarah are born.
April 2018 Israel Trip! We are zeroing in on details for the spring 2018 Root Source trip to Israel. The theme of this once in a lifetime program will be
"Seventy Years to Israel's Rebirth." We are planning this trip to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Israel's founding in 1948. It will be a visit of your lifetime! While Christian Bob O’Dell is asking orthodox Jew Gidon Ariel about Yom Kippur and atonement the conversation quickly turns to “The Great Christian Question” that Gidon is often asked about how can anyone ever receive atonement without a
sacrifice.
Last week was the festival of Sukkot, and Gidon was invited to be the keynote speaker at Christine Darg’s event on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. Root Source Tours concludes its 9-part series on the Golan by taking you to the Temple of Pan, the Pan Grotto, and explains the supreme importance

Weekly Portion: Noach – October 21 – 1 Cheshvan |
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Noach Genesis 6:9 – 11:32, God instructs Noah—the only righteous man in a world consumed by violence and corruption—to build a large wooden teivah (“ark”), coated within and without with pitch. A great deluge, says God,
will wipe out all life from the face of the earth; but the ark will float upon the water, sheltering Noah and his family, and two members (male and female) of each animal species. In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Isaiah 54:1 – 54:10, forsaken Jerusalem is likened to a barren woman devoid of children. God enjoins her to rejoice, for the time will soon come when the Jewish
nation will return and proliferate, repopulating Israel’s once desolate cities. The prophet assures the Jewish people that God has not forsaken them. Although He has momentarily hid His countenance from them, He will gather them from their exiles with great mercy. The haftorah compares the final Redemption to the pact God made with Noah in this week’s Torah reading. Just as God promised to never bring a flood over the entire earth, so too He will never again be angry at the Jewish
people.
