The first day of the seventh month will be a holy occasion for you. You will not do any job-related
work. It will be for you a day of the trumpet’s sound. – Numbers 29:1 Don't see this email too well? view it on the web! https://root-source.optin.com/newsletter/awlist3485550/MTExMTg1MDA=/what-is-teshuvah.htm You signed up for this newsletter for information from Root Source. This week, the weekly Torah
reading Ha’Azinu, consists of a poetic song delivered by Moses and Joshua. The song is a prophecy of what will transpire to the Jews – the good and the bad – until the end of times. The portion concludes with God commanding Moses to climb Mount Nebo, from where he would see the Promised Land before his passing.

Weekly Portion:
Ha’Azinu – September 23 – 3 Tishrei
|
In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Ha’Azinu Deuteronomy 32:1 – 32:52, the greater part of the Torah reading of Haazinu (“Listen In”) consists of a 70-line “song” delivered by Moses to the people of Israel on the last day of his earthly
life. In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading II Samuel 22:1 – 22:51, describes the song King David composed in his old age, echoing the weekly Torah reading, where Moses delivers his parting words to the Jewish nation in song form.

Day #20, 21 & 22 of a 30 day series of Torah thoughts by Rabbi Elan Adler. |
Root Source teacher, Rabbi Adler has started a 30 day series of Torah thoughts leading to Rosh Hashanah.
Day 20 In a small Polish village, on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, it became the time honored custom for the villagers to go house to house to collect the worshippers and finally meet at the Rabbi’s house to escort him to the synagogue for the 7am starting time. On the way they sang, and asked
for blessings, and heard stories, and it was heaven on earth. Upon arrival, the Rabbi opened the doors to the synagogue, looked around and shut them. “We cannot go in. The synagogue is full.” Well, considering the worshipers were all outside it would make sense it was empty, but full?? Someone chimed in, “Dear Rabbi, please check again.” And he did and said the same thing. Someone went in through the back door to see who could possibly be in there, but there was no
one.

Karen enjoyed Root Source and had this to say. Karen wrote: I really enjoy these sessions with Rabbi Dov ben Shor. They have been very illuminating. I loved his explanation of sacrifice….that it should have been me as the sacrifice. I have learned so much.
