Dear ,

This week, the weekly Torah reading Matot-Masei, begins with the laws of oaths. The Israelites wage battle against Midian and the spoils are divided and tithed. The tribes of Reuben and Gad request and receive territory outside the mainland of Israel.

Root Source Interviews covers one of the most compelling theories we have ever heard about the current location of the Ark of the Covenant, with Dr. Edoardo Recanati. In this final segment he tells us exactly where on the temple mount is the location where the Ark is stored, and the role of the Gate of Mercy and the Mount of Olives in this location.

Gidon Ariel of Root Source Tours takes us to the entrance of the Har Etzion Yeshiva and explains his connection to this location and how Jews study Torah in Israel.

From time to time, we find an article or video on the Internet which we think would especially be appreciated by a lot of our subscribers. This week we found this article by Rabbi Eliezer Melamed. We'd love to hear what you think!

Bob O’Dell tells about his own journey to push back against taking offense.
He considers it the second main strategy the enemy uses to keep Christians from fulfilling their destiny.

We sign off with a lovely quote from a Root Source student and a beautiful picture of a Generational Prayer in Jerusalem.

Shalom,

Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

Matot-Masei – July 22 – 28 Tamuz

In this Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Matot-Masei Numbers 30:2–32:42, Moses conveys the laws governing the annulment of vows to the heads of the tribes of Israel.

In this week’s Haftara Prophets reading Jeremiah 1:1-2:3, the first of a series of three “haftorot of affliction.” These three haftarot are read during the Three Weeks of mourning for Jerusalem, between the fasts of 17 Tammuz and 9 Av.

A UNIQUE NATION INDEED

The Prime Minister of India represents the great number of people in the world who are in awe of Israel * In the West, Israel is repressed; but in the East, Israel is constantly taken notice of * Israeli academics are perplexed when asked what the secret of Israel’s success is, and whether it is related to the study of the Gemara * Jew’s success is not dependent on any specific study, rather, the inner quality of striving for limitlessness * The Left’s outlook that there is no essential difference between nations has Jewish roots, but precisely from the principle of freedom, the uniqueness of each nation is achieved * Our task is to connect inner faith with its realization in ‘tikun olam’, in all spheres of life.
