Thus says the LORD, "Yet again there will be heard in this place... in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem... the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride..." Jeremiah 33 10-11

Dear ,

Last week we answered an Ask the Rabbi question about "DNA and the Jewish Question." We thought it would catch the eye of many of our readers, and in fact we entered a conversation on our Facebook page that is a followup on this conversation.

This week, we are focusing on one of our most beloved teachers, David Ha'Ivri. We bring you a lesson from his channel, Israel and the Nations, and also a "trailer" from a recently recorded lesson, about Jewish Weddings. And for a good reason - David's daughter got married recently! We invite you to be a virtual guest at the ceremony and the party!

We bring a radio interview with Gidon about Root Source.

And we finish up as usual with a beautiful comment from one of our students and a beautiful picture from the Land of Israel.

Shalom,

Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell

Ask the Rabbi: Who is a Jew?

Mary Beth read our last Ask The Rabbi column, which dealt with DNA testing, and had some comments which she posted on our Facebook page.

Here is the beginning of our back-and-forth, as of this writing:

Mary Beth wrote:
I find both fascinating and frustrating that someone with deep Jewish ancestry is not considered Jewish. I just found out I have a long line of Jewish ancestry… but somehow I am not considered Jewish. Huh?

Meet David Ha'Ivri!

David Haivri introduces himself, his family, and his village in a very personal way.

He gives us a tour of his farm, about a 45 minute drive north of Jerusalem in Samaria. David’s farm is near Shechem, the exact place where Abraham first entered the land!

In this video not only do you see his farm in the light of the late afternoon, but you can catch a view of Mount Gerizim in the distance, the mountain of blessing. You will also gain a sense of David, a man of action and purpose, a settler and a Zionist, but also a man who has a tender heart, and has learned to love the non-Jews, those that in Hebrew are said to be “from the nations.”

Enjoy this lesson from David Ha’Ivri. If you are not yet a member of Root Source, or are but do not subscribe to his channel, you can start doing both here.

Mazal Tov! David Ha'Ivri's Daughter Was Married!

David Haivri’s daughter Hagar was married this year.

Here is a free excerpt from a new lesson that he has included on his Root Source channel entitled: Israel and the Nations.

The lesson is a narrated version of the wedding, where he has overlaid his commentary on top of the festivities, explaining what is going on in the beautiful Hebrew ceremony.

David also explains what is typical in an Orthodox Jewish wedding, versus some of the less common things that happened in this particular event.

The full version of this wedding video will be made available immediately to anyone who joins Root Source and selects David’s channel: Israel and the Nations.

In addition, David stands ready to answer your questions about this event and weddings in general.

You will need to join Root Source by August 1st, 2016 to take advantage of this special.

What is Root Source? An Interview with Paul Bernard

Our Students Love Us!

See what Sharon has to say about David Ha'Ivri's channel!

Mr. Ha'ivri, it's so valuable for me be instructed by you, in the Tanakh out of its truest context -- Hebraic context. Although I treasure having been raised in a Bible-based home, by parents whose priority for our lives was "to be faithful and obedient to God," in this western society, the Bible doesn't get taught in its Hebraic context. Characters (like Joseph hatzaddik) and actions from Bible, are presented the only way people here know: from Greek mindset. There's a whole Tanakh that I thought I knew, that I've got to become like a child and get to know Bible all over again! The G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has a righteous and just Way, and oh what a precious opportunity to obey His voice! He guides us out of deceitful idolatries that don't proclaim Hebraic contextual Truth of scripture! I'm re-learning Tanakh, as you teach, and I'm so grateful to El of YISRAEL, for teaching His merciful Truth, through you and other instructors at Root-Source.com.
