Dear ,

This week we open with an Ask the Rabbi question fielded by our own Dr. Rivka Adler.

We continue with a revealing talk of Gidon's, in which he discusses what Jews think of Christians.

Gidon translated a little known but beautiful poem into Hebrew; we think you'll love the English original, the Hebrew if you read it, and the formatting we've done!

In this issue, we (sort of) tackle the famous verses of the book Isaiah 53.

And we conclude with a lovely comment from a Root Source student, and a beautiful picture of a spring in the Golan Heights.

Ask the Rabbi: Miriam, Moses' Sister

Shalom.. I have been studying women of the Old Testament.. In some midrash, it was mentioned that Miriam did not speak during the wandering in the desert after getting punished for speaking ill of her brother Moses.. However, there was a living well of water that followed her.. Any insights into this would be more than helpful. Thank you so much!

Our teacher Rivkah Adler, teacher of the Women in the Bible course at Root Source answers:

Special: What do Jews think of Christians?

In part 4 of this video series, Gidon gets personal, explaining how this journey of working with Christians has impacted his family and his community.

He also covers how Jews perceive Christians, his family’s reaction to nearby terrorism, and an answer to the question:

What is the most important thing these tour participants should take home with them?

Why did God Create Teachers?

This is a little out of our regular fare, but my cousin asked me to translate this lovely poem and I think our regular audience will like it in English as well!

Isaiah 53

Root Source completes its exciting five part interview of Nehemia Gordon by asking him about his experiences in China, and how an encounter with Christians there gave Nehemia an idea: How to explain to Christians in terms they can understand, why Jews do not see Isaiah 53 as talking about Jesus!

Bob then reacts to Nehemia’s novel idea and approach. Don’t miss one second of this exciting, innovative conclusion!

Prepare to have your mind educated and your heart touched!

Hi Rivkah. Thank you for another wonderful lesson. Even though I have absorbed a lot of teaching and participated in a lot of Bible study over the years, I feel like I have missed out on so much of the meaning behind the written word. Thank you, again, and God bless you.
