Dear
,
What a week we've had!
We just finished the Shavuot (Pentecost) pilgrimage festival. The whole country is celebrating!
This week, we report on our visit with Rabbi Glick in the Knesset. We met other MKs too, we will share about that in the coming
weeks.
How did Root Source start? Watch the included video and hear all about it!
Bob made some predictions in Israel FIRST! How are we doing? Have a peek at our report card!
We continue with a Root Source interview with the controversial Nehemia Gordon.
And this week Gidon answer's a student's question about translations in the Bible.
And we conclude with a beautiful comment from a student, and a breathtaking view from the Holy Land.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell Root Source

We proudly meet MK Rabbi Yehudah Glick in the Knesset! |
This week Bob and Gidon met newly minted Knesset member, Root Source teacher, and good friend Rabbi Yehudah Glick in his brand new office.
He was so touched to receive our giant CONGRATULATIONS card with all your blessings included.
Then, without us asking, he spontaneously
selected one student blessing to read on camera, and commented on it!
Watch this very short video to see whose blessing he chose!
How Did Root Source Start? |
In part 3 Bob O’Dell, after revealing two or three quick things that touch him about Jewish prayer, tells his own personal story of how God led him away from high-tech and how he ended up meeting Gidon in Jerusalem.
He also gives the story of Israel FIRST! and the behind-the-scenes story between he and Gidon, about how it came about.
Prediction Update – Gay Marriage One Year Later |
When we wrote our book, Israel FIRST!, we promised to score ourselves on the various predictions we made.
The book was written between the time of the legalization of Gay Marriage in the United States in June 2015, but before the end of the Shemitah year in
September 2015.
As of June 2015, the United States was the 20th such Western nation to make the Gay Marriage decision.
In Chapter 15, Shemitah and Society, we made five or six predictions about the impact of this landmark decision. How have those predictions fared, so far?
The Book of Matthew... in Hebrew? |
In part 4, Nehemia tells the story of how his work with Christian convinced him to write a book about the Hebrew version of Matthew, and why he believes it was originally written in Hebrew.
Nehemia then explains the
reason he co-wrote a book on The Lord’s Prayer.
The conversation then switches to the Old Testament where Bob asks him to explain the overall Jewish reaction to the Greek Septuagint. Betty asked:
This morning our pastor was doing a teaching from Chapter 2 of the Song of Solomon. As he read verse 7 from the King James Version of the Bible at the end of the verse when the speaker was saying ‘nor awake my love, TILL HE PLEASE’. In my New American Standard Version the last three words are ‘UNTIL SHE
PLEASES’. Another friend had a different version which had ‘UNTIL IT PLEASES’ for the last 3 words. I found this confusing so wondered which one is correct according to the Hebrew Bible. Can you speak on this?
Brenda wrote this lovely comment:
How blessed we are to have a teacher we can speak with when we have a question. The answer is helpful in
understanding what we have read here. For a non-Jewish person studying all I can about Jewish heritage, books of our Old Testament, The Torah, this web site is so helpful to me. In the effort to better understand our "Letter from Yeshiva" our Bible, and The Torah, I will continue to hopefully learn the lessons we are to be learning from our studies. Shalom and thank You God for all Your blessings!!!
