Ask the Rabbi

We continue to feature YOUR questions that we answer here on Root Source!

This week, Vicki Stewart from Auburn, Alabama, USA asks:

Can you explain the verses from Exodus 4:24 - 25 where it seems that the Lord was going to kill Moses over the circumcision or lack of it for the children and why Zipporah did the circumcision and said what she did to Moses?

Also, what exactly happened to Zipporah after this?

Gidon, Bridging Jews and Christians

Gidon and Bob were invited to speak with an Israel Tour group that was brought over by Pastor Trey Graham of Dallas Texas.

In part 1, Gidon Ariel tells his story of coming to Israel and how he decided to try to become a bridge between the Jewish world and the Christian world.

The Mystery of the Lost Jubilee: Part XIX – Adam's Jubilee

Breaking Israel News once again has published a new article by Bob:

The Mystery of the Lost Jubilee: Part XIX – Adam’s Jubilee

Today we are going to look for the Bible’s very first hint of a Jubilee, and we are going to do that through the life of its very first human, Adam. Not only will you learn the key significance of the number ‘19’ in the life of Adam and in all humankind, but the evidence we find is going to take us in a surprising direction!

Having spent so much time making the case for Jubilees coming every 49 years, and getting you comfortable with that idea, we are now going to show that the traditional Jubilee calculation of 50, 100, 150, is also supported in scripture! So, if you were bothered by all the discussion of 49s, today your 50s ship has come in!

What is a Karaite Jew?

Root Source interviews Israeli Jew Nehemia Gordon.

In part 2 we learn about the differences between Karaite Jews and Orthodox Jews, as well as what brings them together.

Also covered are Karaite communities in Israel, and what Nehemia admires the most about those Jews with whom he disagrees.

What is Lag Ba'Omer?

One of the lesser known Jewish holidays, that has had a reflowering in the modern State of Israel, is Lag Ba’Omer – the thirty third day of the counting of the Omer, as commanded in Leviticus 23:15-16:

You shall count for yourselves from the day after the sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete sabbaths. Until the day after the seventh sabbath, you shall count fifty days; then you shall present a new grain offering to the LORD.

Gidon was interviewed on a radio program by his friend Paul Bernard on the Bethlehem Voice radio program about this holiday, and here is the outcome!

Our Students Love Us!

Look what Karen had to say!

Rabbi Glick, I believe that God is using you to answer many prayers and to move toward fulfilling God's prophecies. I praise Hashem for His faithfulness and goodness to us all for using you! I pray that He may lead you, guide you, and protect you as you serve Him! Thank you for your love, courage, and faithfulness to Him. Shalom and God bless you, Karen
