Shalom!
Have you ever wondered how even the smallest
congregation can make a global impact? As we look ahead to Light Up The Church 2025, We are reflecting on how intentional preparation—no matter the size of your church or community—can amplify the light we shine together.
Over the past few years, I’ve
witnessed the power of hundreds lighting their churches, homes, and hearts—a unified act of remembrance and hope. If you’re new to this movement or want to review where we’ve come from, take a look at last year’s Light Up The Church summary.
How To Get Ready: Your 2025 Preparation Guide
Making an
impact requires planning—and heart. Here are practical steps you can take, starting now:
- Set the Date: Mark November 9 2025 on your calendar for Light Up The Church. Share the event within your community and invite others to participate in solidarity with the
Jewish people.
- Engage Church Leadership: Connect with pastors and leaders early. Explain the significance of this remembrance event and brainstorm ways the church building—inside and out—can be illuminated.
- Gather Your Team:
Assemble a small planning group or volunteer team. Assign roles—promotion, logistics, prayer, technical setup—so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Connect with Local Media: Reach out to local newspapers, radio, and television to raise awareness of your church’s participation and the event’s deeper meaning. In past years, even small stories have inspired
neighboring communities.
- Partner with Others: Invite local businesses, parachurch, or other churches to join the event. The more lights that shine, the stronger the message of remembrance and unity.
- Prepare a Remembrance Moment:
Plan a brief time of prayer, reading, or silent reflection during your lighting event to honor those impacted by Kristallnacht and the Holocaust.
- Share Your Story: Document the preparation and event. Photos, videos, and personal testimonies can be sent to us or posted on social media to inspire others—much like the photos from last year that encouraged churches
across continents.
Why Start Early?
The urgency grows with each passing year. As global antisemitism continues and fewer
survivors remain to share their stories, our responsibility to remember and stand publicly grows. By starting preparations now, you ensure your community’s part in this profound act of solidarity is meaningful and visible.
