This coming Shabbat's Torah portion, read on Saturday, January 18th, is Parashat Shemot. In this week’s Torah reading, Shemot, begins the Book of Exodus. Pharaoh issues harsh decrees against the Israelites, beginning decades of Jewish suffering and slavery. Moses is born and raised in the Egyptian royal palace. After killing an Egyptian, Moses escapes to Midian and marries.

Jacob's descendants in Egypt grew strong and multiplied despite being subjected to harsh slave labor by a new Pharaoh who sought to suppress them. When Pharaoh ordered Hebrew midwives to kill all newborn Hebrew sons, the midwives defied his command out of fear of God.

Gidon, the meeting host, celebrated Root Source's 10th anniversary and the launch of the Bless Israel Project, highlighting the organization's history and partnerships. He shared personal experiences, emphasized the importance of supporting Israeli causes, and expressed optimism for the future.

Gidon and Richard discuss the Verse from Hebrews 11:6, “God rewards those who diligently seek him,” and especially the first part of that verse, “Without faith it is impossible to please God,” and how that compares and contrasts to the passage in Mishna Pirkei Avot (Chapters of the Fathers), chapter 3 mishna 10: “those who are pleasing to others are pleasing to God, and those who are not pleasing to others are not pleasing to God.”

In an interview with Paul Calvert, Gidon Ariel of Root Source discussed Israel's successful airstrike on Iran, which targeted key sites while avoiding escalation. He highlighted the strategic and symbolic aspects of the operation, ongoing regional conflicts, Netanyahu's cautious approach, and the importance of faith and U.S.-Israel relations, while also promoting Root Source for fostering Jewish-Christian dialogue.
