G‑d allows Moses to send scouts to reconnoiter the land of Canaan in preparation for their anticipated invasion of the land. One member of every tribe — with the exception of the tribe of Levi — was chosen for this task. Moses instructed the scouts to bring back a report regarding the nature of the land; its strengths and weaknesses. He also instructed them to bring back samples of the land’s produce.

A dramatic turning point in the Israelites’ sojourn in the desert was the event that prolonged their desert wanderings to 40 years, termed ‘the sin of the spies.

“I can’t get no satisfaction,” Mick Jagger cried out in the 1960’s, and the opposite of satisfaction is dissatisfaction, a feeling that the Israelites invoked for no good reason at all, leading to unexpected and gravely unsatisfying results. 

Proverbs Ch 3 verses 9-12

Rabbi Aryeh Leifert comments on Proverbs 3:9-12, emphasizing that accumulating wealth is acceptable if it is done to honor God. Additionally, he explains that when we receive rebuke from God, we should see it as a sign of His love and care for each of us.

The class examines why young people are especially idealistic, and how the goal is not to become “adulterated” and lose that idealism with age.

Gidon and Dr. Richard Booker discussed the impact of modern technology like air conditioning, the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, and the City of David. They debated if the remnant of believers is growing or shrinking, and talked about God's omniscience, the existence of evil, and free will, noting the rebellion of the devil and King Solomon. They emphasized God's faithfulness, His existence beyond time and space, and a hint of a corporeal Divine in Daniel 7:13. They marveled at human speech, discussed the Christian belief that God must be “one of us” for redemption, and stressed the importance of loving all people as everyone is created in God's image.
