This coming Shabbat's Torah portion, read on Saturday, December 30th, is Vayechi. It discusses Jacob's final years. Shortly before his passing, Jacob blesses Joseph's children as well as his own. A massive funeral procession escorts Jacob's body to Canaan. The reading, and the Book of Genesis, concludes with Joseph's death.

Making the most of performance evaluations

Performance evaluation season at work can be a disquieting period. It’s often a mandatory calendar event that both sides––management and employees––would be happy to skip. The participants may be apprehensive of confrontation, have difficulty being authentic, and see no practical value in the meeting. However, if the organization maintains the proper attitude and all sides are on board, performance evaluation can be a career-boosting event for all involved.

Moses and the Golden Calf

In this lesson, we will study one of the most disturbing descriptions of sin and punishment in the Hebrew Bible, the sin of the Golden Calf.  We will examine Moses’ reaction to the Israelite betrayal of the God that liberated them from Egypt and determine if this reaction was reasonable or overly zealous.

World on 3 Pillars: Truth and Peace

This lesson is part of a class series discussing Pirkei Avot, the Chapters of the Fathers, a classic text in Jewish tradition that can be considered Life's Little Handbook of the Jewish Sages.

Here are the topics that Gidon and Dr. Richard discussed:
