This coming Shabbat's Torah portion, read on Saturday, July8th, is Matot. This Torah portion opens with laws about vows, and continues to describe the Israelites’ war against the Midianites and the allocation of spoils. The tribes of Reuben and Gad request to dwell outside of the Land of Israel, and Moses acquiesces on the condition that they help conquer it.

Following the publication of The LIST 2021 which was launched last January with a presentation by Rabbi Ken Spiro, and The LIST 2020 and the historic volume The LIST: Persecution of Jews by Christians Throughout History, Root Source is honored to launch
"The LIST 2022: Antisemitic Incidents Worldwide."

Like the books that preceeded it, The LIST 2022 reviews over one thousand incidents reported in online newspapers and on social media, in an easy to use format.

Coinciding with the Ninth of Av, the saddest day on the Jewish calendar which commemorates the destruction of both the First and the Second Temples in Jerusalem, Root Source will launch The LIST 2022 on Sunday, July 27.

“Our children, our wives, our flocks” – Striving for Work-Family Balance

As the Israelites approached the Promised Land full of anticipation, the two tribes of Reuben and Gad noticed the bountiful grazing lands of the region east of the Jordan River that any livestock owner would prize. This land of Bashan had been captured earlier that year.

The laws of inheritance are so basic and so self explanatory that they go unquestioned even today. But precisely during the final days in the wilderness, five sisters stood before Moshe and demanded their share of their father’s portion in the land. Their claim was confirmed by none other than G-d, Himself, who wrote new laws into the Torah to accommodate their just claim.
