Parashat Eikev

Our portion carries a promise of Godly assistance in conquering the Land of Israel and blessings for following His commands. Moses warns the people that they will be punished for disregarding God’s word and reminds them of several incidents in which they had sinned, but mostly focuses on the good that God will bring them if they keep His laws. It also deals heavily with the bounty of the Promised Land.

Awards ceremony – co-organized by Jewish and Christian organizations – "celebrated" relations between pro-Israel Christians and Israeli Jews.

"Joy Marshall and I are very grateful to have been invited to the event you hosted last night. It was a very special evening. The food was tasty, the various encounters with others precious, and the speeches were short and to the point, which left one inspired. We are particularly grateful too to have been gifted a copy of the 2020 LIST and will take time aside to ponder it and encourage others to do so, hard as that may be. To have everything collated in one volume somehow increases the weightiness of the subject. We trust we may be found faithful in working to combat this scourge, especially in the Christian world. On a lighter note, it was a delight to hear the music group and left us with only a sense of joy as we departed. On Tisha B'av itself, it was a pleasure to be a part of the Ninth of Av Christian group and to ascend Har HaBayit with Rabbi Yehuda Glick. We look forward to being in touch again in the future."
