,
This week, we continue reading the Torah, this time about Abraham.
The Ask the Rabbi question this week is about the phrase "Our Father in Heaven. What we discover may surprise you!
We share Gidon's talk at a recent convention in Jerusalem during the Sukkot
celebration.
We introduce a new Knesset member, Gidon's friend Miki Zohar.
And while we are on the subject of the Knesset, Yehuda Glick is not the only Root Source teacher who ran or will run for office! Learn more below.
We sign off with our lovely quote from a student and a
beautiful picture of the Knesset.
Shalom,
Gidon Ariel and Bob O’Dell Root Source Founders

Weekly Portion: Lech Lecha - November 12 – 11 Heshvan
|
This Shabbat’s weekly Torah portion Lech Lecha, Genesis 12:1 – 17:27, introduces Abraham, promises blessing to non-Jews who support Israel (Gen.. 12:3) and tells the world that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jews (Gen 12:7 etc etc)..
The Haftara Prophets reading, Isaiah 40:27 – 41:16, includes Isaiah 40: 31: Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Ask the Rabbi: Avinu Shebashamayim: Our Father in Heaven
|
Abigail asked a question about the best known phrase in a well known Christian prayer, and its relationship with Jewish sources.
Shalom! I understand that the Jewish people, in at
least one of their prayers, refer to Hashem as "Avinu Shebashamayim" (our Father in Heaven).
I am wondering when/how that started.
Are there verses in the Tanakh that lead to that designation?
Toda raba for so patiently answering our questions! Abigail

Root Source interviews: Miki Zohar, Israeli Knesset Member |
Miki Zohar is one of the new wave of Likud members voted into office in the last elections.
Miki is self-described as “not politically correct, for better or worse, but I can’t change who I am.”
As an example of that he has proposed a law that requires non-essential businesses to
close for Shabbat.
Root Source gets the inside story in this fascinating look at a young, aggressive politician.

"Never have I been taught so much in just 2 short sessions" |
Never have I been taught so much in just 2 short sessions, your first two teachings!
All my life I've "heard" about Jewish Holocaust, read Anne Frank's diary, read Corrie ten
Boom's books, but never, until now, had I received instruction, concerning history.
Even though I come from a home and parents that are Bible-based, with lives that proclaim,"Jesus is the Light of the world," ONLY NOW, I am fulfilled!
Your history lesson presents such informed and humble experiential perspective of Islam, Jews, Christians, Messiah the Son of the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!
He is the Elohim who gives me access to Root-Source, to be taught Torah Truth from Genesis to Revelation, by Israeli Jews, with whom all believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, are His covenant partakers!!
